I installed everything correclty, and even did it over the phone with Verizon. But the ×××× comp (tried two , one of which is 2 day old comp) and it the phonebook wont recognize the phone). i know the comp is hooked up ok to the phone cause when i unplug adn replug the phone in the comp recognizes the hardware being plugged in.

Anyone heard of any problems like this?

How to find out what Port your phone is on.

Whenever you use QPST, you need to know what port windows assigns to your phone.

After plugging in your phone to the USB cable do this:

1) On your desktop or start menu, Right-Click on My Computer

2) Choose Properties

3) Click Hardware Tab

4) Click Device Manager

5) Find Ports and click the + next to it.

6) You should see LGE in there and it will say (COM8) or some other number
That is what COM port you need to add into QPST Config program.

Steps added by me
1) Double Click on COM1 -> Click on Port Settings Tab -> Click on the Advance button -> change the com port (to something that isnt in use)

2) Do the same for the for the com port you phone is on. then change it to com1.

Keep trying different ports till it works. HTH
