First I would like to say hello to everyone, LOTS of good info here, thanks for that!! I found this site linked from CDMAngels where I used to chat about the... ×××× can't even remember anymore, lol

My question I think is simple... I went to eringers.com and picked out a couple Poly Ringer Tones and on the options page selected simple Midi and chopped to 30 seconds. I downloaded it on my PC then used vzwpix.com to send it to my phone. I then saved the media and set it as my ringer... it plays but sounds kinda weird, I don't know how to describe it...

Should I be selecting an option other than Midi? There is like Midi-0, and a bunch of others.....

Thanks again!

DOH! One more question sorry.. I used RingToneRipper to rip 20 seconds of a CD track... I tried to use vzwpix.com to send it to my phone but the site gave me an error with the file... It's an mp3 (not sure if the 8900 even supports that, lol)...

Any ideas?

Thanks again.. again!

Maybe 2 minutes, actually... The other thing that drives me nuts is the Unsupported message I get when I rename .mp3 to .mid, ticking me off!!

This is REALLY starting to tick me off!!! I downloaded Brewsky just for the buddyholly.mp3 to see if I could get it working... I changed it to .mid and emailed it to <my number>@vzepix.com... I got the email and it says :

Unsupported
content type
application/octet-st
ream
buddyholly.mid

Any ideas??

Thanks,

I sent it through vzwpix.com and it worked, it's pretty short maybe 8 - 10 secs, but it works.. It must be the size of my others, they're over 100k..

k, an update on this problem.. I used Nero opened the MP3 and saved it as a lower bitrate and the file size shrank, but then when I tried to receive the message from the phone (after using VZEPix) to send it now I get a popup that says:

"Failed to handle pix message"

Ever hear of this on?? LOL

Here's the trick and the part that I think hangs a lot of people up.. When converting your MP3 use:

24 bit, 22050 hz, mono

that worked flawlessly!

It would probably work fine if you are pulling from an MP3 already... I was ripping from a CD and I think that might be what got me... I'll try ripping from an MP3 later and see how that goes..
