Just a quck question... I was in Circuit City yesterday and they offered me a brand new 5150 for $232.99. Do you think I should grab it or wait for the 5300? THANKS!

I think you should wait for the 5300, unless you can find the 5150 under $200. It's a nice phone, but it's not 3G Data. You can get a phone that's color that supports Vision for that same price and less. So if you are willing to spend a nice amount on a cell phone I would wait for the 5300.

Well I would say if you like the 5150 I would get it and get the the Circuit City warranty- replacement plan...so many times we hype phones up here (IE. Samsung a500) and then they dont live up ...The 5150 is limited in the stores and will be discontinued soon...get it now and if the 5300 doesnt live up to the hype you have a solid performer phone and if the 5300 does live up you can use the plan to upgrade to it by paying the price difference.

Well...
I had bought a Sanyo 5150, and next thing I knew a week or two later the screen started washing itself out (the screen looked really white it only had like three different shades of grey on it - really ugly!)... I knew the phone was defected. So I went to Best Buy to exchange it...
They don't carry it anymore. It's still on display. But the warehouses stopped carying it and there were none in the store - so I guess the 5150 is pretty much out of phase now (at least in Best Buy retail stores)...
It was a good phone. Now I'm gonna have to get an a500, becuase the other phones don't really look that great. Maybe the Sanyo 4900, but I hate candy bar phones.
Oh well...<sigh>

Just curious.. what defines 3G data? Is it all the bells and whistles sprint's throwing out as "PCS Vision?"
That doesn't really mean anything to me... my 5150 can get 144k data wireless which is perfectly fine by me. Connecting up to my laptop I can pull about 100-120 k down if I'm not moving. That's better than a lot of my friend's home connections.

In my area, they have a few still at 2 BB'S. Have you searched around at other stores in your area ??

I'm just looking for a good & reliable phone. I doubt I'll ever subscribe to Vision, but the 3G voice service would be nice. I use the 2G web and that will suffice for me. Thanks for the input!

perhaps you should consider the lg 5250?

From what I've read on "the boards" most folks don't think much of the LG phones on the Sprint network. I tried the 5250 and found it to be "toy like" and frankly "cheap". Thanks for your suggestion!
