I will be buying a MPX220 in the near future (if it will just come out) from Best Buy. I have my contract through T-Mobile so I understand I have to pay extra. Will they un-lock the phone for me at best buy or do I have to contact someone? I am kind of new to the high powered phone arena so any advice would be greatly appreciated.

There's no way Best Buy will unlock it for you. You'll have to go somewhere else.

If the phone which BB will be carrying is a Cingular phone, most of Cingular's world phones come unlocked. I would take your T-Mo SIM with you and pop it into the MPX220 at the store to see if it comes up. You will know as soon as it boots.

Well - there is always a chance that my info is wrong, as it is with any information. Just that - do not make plans on it until it comes out and some one verifies it for you.

If is locked how do I un-lock it... I am willing to pay 500 dollars to get the phone. Its not like I am trying to cheat anyone.

GEORGE2350, where did you get your information ??

They have not locked previous PDA phones such as the Treo 600, so I would tend to believe the pattern will continue.

If it is true and the unit is locked, just Google for "motorola unlocking service" or something along those lines. It may cost you $15-$20 but you will get what you want. There are a lot of web sites offering this service.

We'll have to wait and see.......
