BitPim and Ringers...

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Hello, again ... Here's an interesting one for ya.. Got my cable, got bitpim installed, and I already removed that ×××× banner... However, I can browse to user/sounds.. But when I try to go into the ringers folder, it pauses for a few, then Bitpim gives me an error that the phone is not responding...

This seems odd to me as I can browse to ALL other folders, copy files off, overwrite other files, etc...

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Corey

Gonna make this even more interesting... I tried "Brewsky 8900" and had problem with the ringers as well.. It would only show some of the ringers on the phone, if I clicked refresh I'd get one or two more, hit refresh again, back to the first short list...

So, this may be the problem people are having with Brewsky when their ringtones "disapear" it's something odd in Brewsky.. And more than likely related to why I can't read the ringer folder in BitPim....

Still workin on it though, I'll let you all know what I come up with...

just a guess but it sounds like you may have a faulty USB port. are you plugged straight into the computer or using a USB hub? I would recommend pluggiing it directly into a port if you haven;t done so, or try it on another computer.

The problem with the ringers disappearing with Brewskey seem to be because it might not read the download_snd.txt file correctly until you send something to the phone first after which it overwrites it with a file it can read and blows away the references to what you have already.

Well, happening on two PC's, two USB ports, no hub... Just seems weird that everything else reads/writes fine except the ringers folder... I'm not a wiz with this phone, but I'm very experienced with PC's and this doesn't sound like a communication problem.. I could be wrong of course, just odd...

P.S. to get around this issue, I signed up for the 20 pix messages a month for $2.99 and will send ringtones that way, LOL...
