1. Is it being discontinued soon through Verizon?
2. If so how much longer will they have it?

I wanna know overall the people who have the phone what you rate it, cuz im thinkin about buying it. I need a camera phone, i have an lg 4400 right now, and wanting to upgrade.

Is the camera quality on the phone good?
Im not expecting too much, just a camera

Is the speaker-phone feature pretty cool?

My wife just got one. I'm a Kyocera Slider fanatic, but her phone really impressed me.

Good: It took good pictures (I've DL'd some to my computer). The screen's pretty large are very readable. It's comfortable in the hand. It's a Tri-Mode. The buttons are big enough that you don't have probs hitting the right ones.

Bad: You cannot see the screen when taking a self-portrate. The speaker phone works, but not very well. It jarbles when turned up loud (and it's not even that loud).

There's the new 9900 going for $149 without a contract required. We went and looked at it. It seemed about the same to us, except a very nice, clear, higher res screen, and a color external screen. We stuck with the 8900 though.. the 8900 felt more comfortable to hold and talk into (to us anyway).

Other than that, I can't offer much help. It's my wife's phone (I don't use it) and I've never used any other camara phone, except when waiting in showroom to talk to VZ tech support (several hours of experience there!).

Actually you can see yourself when taking a self portrait there's an option to use the external screen as the cameras viewfinder thing.... It's ugly as hell, but it's good enough to see what your taking a picture of....

I really like my 8900.. The 8910 is what I think they are going to try to replace it with, but the 8910 really takes CRA.P pictures compared to the 8900... The only main difference is the 8910 comes with a flash... But if the pictures suck, who cares if they are bright!!!

The speakerphone isn't the best, I will admit that... It beats my old 9500, but not by a whole lot... It's great to use if just sitting on hold or something, but I wouldn't really use it for a conversation, if I need hands free I prefer a handset...

Overall, I don't think you will be disapointed with any aspect of this phone...

thank you both for your help

some things that i do like about the phone are the blue light ringers, pretty modern technology, also the graphics seem alright

I was wondering if there was someway on GIN or something that you can download more animated backrounds

because i know the phone only comes with 1 or 2 wallpapers

are there any little fun things that makes this phone different from others?

One good thing is the ability to use MP3 's as ringtones (many threads are here to explain it).

Setting up FREE WAP is easy enough as well.

The picture quality isn't all that bad. The camera works decent when there is enough light. I tried to upload a sample pic, but the file size is too big for these forums.

I've had this phone for only a couple of months (free, cuz my last phone went back under warrenty too much!), but I really like it.

Peace,
JDR

3. how can you see yourself on the sub screen when taking a self portrait when the camera lens is on the opposite side of the screen?
4. I find the speaker phone to work great while I sit at my desk

While in picture mode hit the menu button, and select "Sub LCD" this will use the external LCD as the viewfinder.. Like I said, it looks like hell, but worked good enough for me..

The speakerphone is awful.. Just for some reason doesn't work well on my desk at work, I tend to use my desk phone for that... To be completely honest, I haven't used it ALL that much, haven't found much of a reason, but I have heard better.

And the camera isn't that bad on mine.. hehe... Some conflicting reviews here, but that will happen... Either way, I haven't heard a lot of people actually say they don't like the phone, and I don't think you will either

Ohh and if you meen the sub LCD is on the oposite side of the phone while taking a picture, open it up... You'll find it's pretty much right above it at that point
