Can the SKII load up web pages like Gmail? Simple short question.

Well that sucks, can't check my email with it then. Guess I'll have to wait and see if Gmail comes out with an HTML based site.

tell gmail to fwd to your hiptop email account that is instant when you get a sidekick eg: @fidohiptop I get instant email..

it does suck though any website with javascript will now work.... other PDA and smartphones work but hiptop is stubborn asses

Yeah, it can't be accessed directly through the normal site, because of the no Javascript problem... but everyone just uses this site on their SK: http://hackingthemainframe.com/gl/

thats cool but can you really trust some site like that? would the webmaster see your login and password? i dont know man those bootleg sites got me thinking

I don't believe it's a secure site so use at your own risk. We have WAP sites out there that work for this as well but they are unsecure as well and could easily be ran by someone harvesting ID's and Password or just ID's to sell to spammers.

thats my problem, i dont trust whoever is webhosting it. i want my gMAIL on my sk2, and i dont want it forwarded to my tmail account,

Yeah, if you got privacy problems then don't use it, or any site that's not https.

I'm normally not an overly security or privacy oriented person but these days, gmail address' are desirable for a lot of things because the system isn't open to the public yet.

Plus with Gmail's limited feature offerings while they are in Beta, these alternative login methods are more desirable to the users....and trust me, this isn't unknown to the people would would like a nice long list of login ID's to sell to someone.

In time, Gmail will offer a WAP option and an HTML only version....those are 2 features they can't overlook as all of their major competitors have them.

Good points.

I'm not really worried, because gmail is just another free email to me... but if it is a main email to you and you are worried about getting your gmail name stolen or the addy sold to spammers then you probably shouldn't use gmail lite. (This isn't directed towards usafturtle, but to anyone considering using it.)

And you're right, Gmail is not only my primary email but I got a username that I've never been able to get on any other email service because it's always taken before I get there. I really don't want this address ruined with tons of Spam.

doesnt the skII take pop acounts and put them in ur inbox there is program called pop goes the gmail that turns ur gmail into a pop account so u can get ur email like that too
