Reset voice mail indicator on P800?

Anyone know of a way to reset my VM and SMS message indicator to make it function again?
It stopped a few weeks ago. A complete reset of the phone fixes it, but reloading my back-up file makes it go away again.
Is there some hidden or less than obvious setting?
I'm on Cingular.
