webjal phone connection error!!

i got thewebjal program 03 the patcher and the drivers for the usb cable along with the cable. everything starts off fine, when i try to connect with the phone message pops up to check my connection and/or preferences and in the preferences i checked the usb cable box!
any suggestions.....

Get a serial cable. 
Try right clicking on the webjal icon, goto compatability and set it for windows 2000.
