Hey, I got a Z600, does anyone know how to get the preinstalled ringtones off, or the pictures that are "predefined items"? Also, is there a way to Change or remove the text that says your provider (In my case AT&T Wireless)?

Any help on this, or other cool suggestions, will be greatly appreciated.

Hey outback -

I've had a z600 since the end of last year -- excellent phone -- still love it.

There's a lot you can do with this (much as you can with a T610, 616, 637, etc.). You just need to learn a bit about how to use it.

First - if you like, you can "unlock" the phone, so you're no longer restricted to staying with your current telecom provider. You can pay a 3rd party service (such as Bongo Wireless) or you can get a terminator dongle and the software and firmware needed to do this yourself -- however, if you're going to do it yourself, you need to study up a bit, to make sure you don't wind up toasting your phone in the process!

When you "flash" the phone, you have the option of unlocking it from your telecomm provider, "unbranding it", so the visual appearance is what it looked like when it left the Sony Ericsson factory (instead of when it left your provider), etc.

Ringtones, Themes, Screensavers are all simply files that reside in your phone. There are a few tools available that let you connect your phone to your pc, and upload and/or download files to and from your phone. So, for example, you can upload new files to your phone to add new ringtones, themes, backgrounds, screensavers, etc.

Two of the better tools out there to do this are:
- FMA (FloAT's mobile agent) - freeware that's readily available if you search...

- Mobile-Master: the professional edition costs about $29, but works very well and lets you sync your phone with Outlook (or many other packages) as well as letting you manage your SMS and upload/download files easily. Also easy to find with a google search.

I urge you to browse these forums -- there's a lot to learn. The more you know about your phone, the more fun you'll have with it.

unbranding the phone will take care of that just get the right flash and *.arm then you are ready to go
