Question about IrDa Ports

I want to buy an IrDa port to use with LogoManager (I have v1.2.81 if it helps) I saw some of them on ebay for fairly cheap.

Are there different types of IrDa ports out there?

Is there a specific type that is required to work with Logo Manager and my nokias
( <--- See Models)

Are some better than others and if so which ones?

I just dont wanna go thru the whole F/MSUM Cables fiasco all over again, so this time I would like to make sure I buy exactly what I need

any help would be much apreciated

Check the Logomanger website to see if it supports your phone. If it does support it then you should have no problem connecting with IrDa.

for a serial one, around $30-$40 USD. USB ones are generally more expensive. check amazon.com and just search in google.

i got mine for $45, that's the USB version. The serial version won't support fast infrared, which doesn't work with most phones but i need for my PDA. if u only gonna use it with mobile phones, save $$$ and just get the serial.

I found a Jeteye Serial to Infared Adapter for $4.99 at Princess Auto in Mississauga. I installed it onto windows 98, and it worked flawlessly with logomanager and my 8290. For those of you who want infared, i think this is a very good deal.

you can get a jeteye off ebay for about 10 bucks

Serial is much cheaper(serial data cable I mean)- its not like your transfering a whole lot of data....

Yeah but than you need one serial for each different series of phones. i.e. 6300 series doesnt fit 8800 series which doesnt fit 8300 series and so on. IrDA works with all these models.
