Either all VX6000 tutorials are wrong, or I have an unusual phone, but it won't play any MP3 files with bit rate lower than 40 Kbps. 40 and higher no problem!

I get all my MP3 ringtones from the Walmart website music section (30 seconds samples).

I use GoldWave to lower the bass and save them as 24 Kbps whick always comes out to 80mb file. I currently have around 7 MP3's on my phone and they play great at that bit rate.

80Mb??? How much memory does your phone has???
Anyway, that is strange, I spend all evening yesterday encoding at various bit rates from 8Kpbs to 40Kbps and loading them to the phone. It only started to work after 40Kbps...

Your doing something wrong. I have over 30 songs on my 6000 at 24k and also 16kbps and all work fine.(sizes range from 57k to almost a 100k in size)

You might want to look at actual size of the clip because if your sending them via email or verizon's site, the 30 sec long rule applies.

You'll be able to send them, but the phone won't accept anything over 30 seconds in length.

If your using a cable, you really have problems. I have downloaded entire mp3's onto my 6k with no problem.
