I need to upgrade my 6230s firmware and am wondering if taking my phone to Cingular and try to put the 6230b's firmware would work... I got my phone in april well before they became available here and need the upgrade.

any insight???

call cingular and then try calling nokia.

nokia did stop flashing though...so the best place to try would be cingular.

6230(a) is likely 900/1800/1900 MHz - you can check this with the firmware revision code *#0000# - if it reports RH-12 it is this version. If it reports RH-28, it's a 6230b 850/1800/1900 MHz. Generally the firmware isn't interchangeable, as there are hardware differences in the phones.

Dr. Dave or anyone here. I have a Cingular 6230b and would like to know if I have an unlocked version or a locked 6230b. What code can I enter to verify this. I honestly did a search, but could not find the code to verify. Thanks in advance, I appreciate it.

There is no code to check if your phone is locked or unlocked. The only way to check is to insert different SIM Card into it. If it accept then you phone is unlocked.
