Free apps/games for s60 devices

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Posted by: Trekker

Well a lot of ppl make threads asking about free applications/games etc for the s60 device.
I am making this thread in the hopes that it could be made a sticky and all the free aps/games etc that the users find can be posted here in one thread. And a request to mods to not allow any irrelevant post in the thread to make it concise and precise.

I will start off with some applications. I did not find all these by myself, and some have been posted before at HoFo by other members. I have just sorted them and put them together in one thread. Full credit goes to the users who found these programs. Feel free to add more aps.

Bravo. This has needed doing for a while.

Any way we could organize the list into categories, like utilities, application, games, etc?
May I also suggest adding the following to the games section:

Spruce Technologies Free Midlets - Chess, Paint, Go, Checkers, Tetris, etc. Small, but free.

Posted by: praz

actually there was a similar thread like this b4 too i guess
apps and reviews or something like that
it was sticky
dont know why its not sticky anymore :S

Posted by: budney

I remember that thread. The bad thing was a lot of the apps listed didn't have links to them, so you had to search. I couldn't find about half of them.

Trekker - Nice job!

This should be a sticky forever!

It's a program that's been 'cracked' so that you don't have to buy it for the full version. And it's illegal.

I was using this on the 6620 and it did not offer offline viewing. I thought the base client much was better, and of course the base client is free.

I don't know if this has been covered before, but is there a Push-Push game for the Nokia 6620?

Anyone know where i can get it?

Same here, I also like the fact you can navigate between separate mailboxes at the push of a button with the built-in N-Gage e-mail client.

Posted by: angel_wing0

same here too

Posted by: sirkswiss

so how do you find/use games for emulators like Frodo? I didn't find any games on those sites (I may be blind), and the games I found using google search gave me a "file not recognized" error once I got them on my phone.

Posted by: TriBand81

These games normally are zipped using a certain format. In order to be on the safe side, I'll send you a PM since I'm sure talking about the games themselves is ok but as to where to get the files is something we can't post in the forum.

I installed it on my 6620 and it's great !!!

The only thing missing, if I may say, is the possibility of using it as a wallpaper and get on the phone directly my agenda !!!

But it's a great soft

Hiya, a newbie here. Was browsing for a nokia version of the sony software handyday and I came across this, downloaded it to my 6680 and it looks good. My only issues are

1 - It doesn't hold the last view you used, eg, if I view it as a grid and ext the program, when I next use it it opens it as a list which is obviously the default view.

2 - You state it's free, but It looks as though I have to register the product. ( any chance of a registration key,if you don't ask you don't get )

I'll keep testing it and I'll be more than happy to give you feedback on it's performance.

Posted by: Bdisc

this topic is realy useful, i must thank the autor and its participants, since i didn´t know nothing to do with my 6600, and now i am having fun..

May I answer your questions......

1) No, but you can play with the settings, so when you open it, it always have the same view...
2) it was mentionned I think on the 2nd page of this thread, it is NOT free anymore....the subject SHOULD be changed !!!!

Honestly, this is one of the best Agenda replacment.....

Good luck

Michel

I found this while visiting another Symbian site. It's a freeware app and reportedly works on any Symbian OS 7 and above S60 phone.

I haven't tried it myself since my N-Gage is Symbian OS 6.1. Hopefully this will be of some use to you here.

According to Agile's website, the messenger program is no longer free. Is that for only the latest version, or for even older versions?

http://www.agilemobile.com/announcement.html

Posted by: angel_wing0

u might want to ask in the main s60 forums

Posted by: elfguy

My suggestion isn't a S60 application, but a Nokia tool for PCs:

Nokia Multimedia Converter 2.0
http://www.forum.nokia.com/main/0,,034-63,00.html

I was looking for a tool to convert mpeg movies to the 3gp format to play on cell phones, but all I found was commercial apps, or free ones which gave a rather poor result. Then I came upon the Nokia Multimedia Converter and it converts movies fine and is free. I wonder why it's not publicized more. It should come as part of PC suite.

Posted by: angel_wing0

well u can always use smartmovies

Older versions no longer work. When you start the program it says something like an upgrade is available and you must upgrade. The program won't run otherwise

Swine.

Posted by: TriBand81

That's the unfortunate thing about free apps, they sometimes start out as free ones and once the developer notices how popular it becomes, then they want to reap some $ for their hard work. That's their right since they made the effort to develop it in the first place, after all it's the way capitalism works.

There is not a free that supports native MS .doc format I'm afraid.

I'm bummed but I guess I will try a free trial as long as I don't have to put down a credit card #. I am really just waiting for the E61 to come out and I'm preatty sure it will come with some sort of software to do this just like the 9500 did.

Does anyone have a list of software that works on the E61? I've tried the first three links in this thread, and none of them work, I get the error, "Installations of 'CellTrack.SIS' not supported"

Neat thread! One quick question...

Are there any programs available that allow you to play .avi and .divx video files? I have a few TV episodes in .ram that opened in RealPlayer, but only the audio worked. The phone couldn't handle the video. Can this phone handle playing a 20min.+ video clip with audio?

I need to take advantage of my new 1GB card- please send me a quick PM here if you can assist! Thanks in advance.

Hey Sttatlich,

www.JuiceCaster.com has a free app on their site which lets you play avi files up to I think 50mb -- it's a start! Plus you can just upload your own stuff to your files and make it 'private' so only you can see it if you want, which is what I do. And it doesn't look like they're going to be charging for this app anytime soon, but even still, may as well get it while the getting is free!!

Does anybody know an app for an N70 where you can use the voice recorder for more than 1 minute???

Posted by: N90toGo

If the N70 is like the N90, you could record video (with sound) for more than a minute and then, whie playing back the video on your PC, record and save the soundtrack as an audio file.

Nope the N70 is not like the N90, coz I can't record voice messages for more than 60 secs.

Hi,
I was going to post this in another thread, but here looks good as well.
I work with a team that is releasing a video ringtone application.
It's just about to enter beta testing, so they let me post it for people to download and use free. As its in beta, there may be a couple of bugs, so please let me know how it goes.

Otherwise, hey... it's free for now so enjoy!

This version should run on these handsets:
Nokia 3230
Nokia 6670
Nokia 6620
Nokia 7610
Nokia 6260
Nokia 6600
Nokia 6630
Nokia 6680
Nokia 6681
Nokia 6682
Nokia N70
Nokia N90

You can install it through BlueTooth or with a data cable.
Here is an overview of what the application does

* Plays full motion 3GP video on incoming calls
* Videos play at different volume levels, as well as in vibrate-only mode
* Assign a default video to unknown callers, or different videos to people in your contact book
* Automatically enabled when your phone turns on (can be disabled too)
* Import videos from your phone's gallery into the application,

Oh, and here's a link to the download:

I am making this thread in the hopes that it could be made a sticky and all the free aps/games etc that the users find can be posted here in one thread. And a request to mods to not allow any irrelevant post in the thread to make it concise and precise.

I will start off with some applications. I did not find all these by myself, and some have been posted before at HoFo by other members. I have just sorted them and put them together in one thread. Full credit goes to the users who found these programs. Feel free to add more aps.
