Just ordered the SMT 5600 off the ATT web site.

$319.99
-$120.00 instant rebate
-$50 online discount for plans >$29.99

$149.99 no rebates and only 1 yr commitment.

The only downside is that on the ATT site, you have to get a data plan, but with a phone like this you probably need one anyways.

With a little luck, I'll have it tomorrow by noon with their free fedex shipping!

TMobile, no...

Cingular, after the merger probably yes....

Once some body gets this phone, can you tell us if it is SIM locked? I would like to use it on T-Mobile. I know of the website to unlock it for ~40 bucks or so... just trying to figure out if I need to factor that into the total cost.

If I recall correctly, AT&T has a $175 early termination fee. That plus the $149 price tag seems very reasonable. I need to re-read the fine print.

It is locked to AT&T.

One thing to note. The cheap price is only for new subscribers. If you are an existing ATTWS subscriber, about the cheapest you will pay is $249 unless someone is cutting you a deal. I tried to get the $199 deal and the online site has some fine print telling you that the extra rebate is only for a new line of service. Kinda sneaky.

FWIW, T-Mobile Germany is about to sell its version of this phone.

They replaced the thumbpad w/ a real joystick, and added a button for email and t-zones.

They also have a Music version that will have three buttons for stopping, pausing, and playing MP3s...

Hopefully they'll eventually make it over to T-Mobile US!

108 x 47 x 18mm = 101,52ccm

C500/SMT 5600: (taken from Orange DK-site)
108 x 46 x 17mm = 79,5ccm
