As many of you probably already know....

Boost Mobile has launched a prepaid version of Nextel Services in Nevada and California.

Boost Customers purchase prepaid cards, and "enjoy" a rate off $0.35 / min (Mon-Fri 7am-9pm) and $0.15 / min (Mon-Thurs 9pm-7am, 9pm Fri-7am Mon).

In addition Boost Members gain access to popular Nextel Services such as Text Messaging, Always On Wireless Web, and Direct Connect, Dubbed Boost 2Way, in the Boost World.

Pricing Plan for these services is:
Text Messaging - $.20 Per Day Unlimited Access
Wireless Web (Pricing Not Listed)
Boost 2Way - $1.00 Per Day Unlimited Access
(Until 10-31-02 Boost Members get all this for Free)

Unused Minutes/Prepaid $ expires after 90 Days!

It get's better People!
Boost Mobile Customers will be able to Direct Connect with Nextel Customers. Even though, Boost is a seperate entity from Nextel, they are "powered" by Nextel's Networks, giving them full compatibility with other Nextel Users. In addition, Boost Members can roam to other Nextel Markets (with the same restrictions we currently have), but..................Boost Mobile Prepaid Services are only currently available in Nevada and California, and you can't purchase their services on their site as of yet.

They have 4 Phones they are offering their customers, the i95cl, i60c, i55sr, i50sx, all at the prices new Nextel Customers would pay for them.

I think this will be great for the youth market out on the West Coast, parents will be able to get their kids cell phones without commiting to a contract, and they will be able to D/C or Boost 2WAY their kids! I can't wait til this goes Nationwide, because I have a few friends who are two cheap to sign up with Nextel and would love to use the D/C Feature.

Actually it is listed, in addition it was in the earlier thread on it, it's 20 cents per day, like Text Messaging. Also, just for clarity, Text Messaging and WWeb are charged regardless of usage (if you subscribe), and DC is $1 per day used, (if you don't use it, you don't pay for that day).

Its offical, when this goes national I am getting 3... Hopefully by March, since then we have a large event where we need to stay in touch over long distances. Many people have nextel, but many don't!

$1/day for unlimited 2way is totally nuts!

Actually, $1 makes sense to me, when you consider that if you use it every day, that's about $30 a month, if it was much more than that, it would start hitting the price of the cheapest unlimited DC plan on Nextel (about $50 when I looked quickly).

but when you compare that to a normal pre-paid service and how many minutes you could use...
