for those who can read chinese,

an updated version of gx30 will be released soon with mp3 ringtone & additional bluetooth support.

gx 30i info

Posted by: Haribolman

Yes, it says it will be officially released on November 2nd.

And yes, it has mp3 ringtone and better bluetooth. Also seems to mention keypad lighting (possible improvement) and what also seems to be an equaliser for the mp3 player. Of course, the bablefish translation was pretty rough, so I could be wrong!

currenty gx32 can't have mp3 ring tones?

Posted by: AvDiDi

gx32 does not come with MP3 ringtones, the gx30/31/32 i version will + better support for bluetooth.

sharp's trying to make more profit by reusing the hardware...apparaently this is just a software upgrade to the current GX30 series...
is it really worth to buy...?

no, not worth to get...

as a current gx-32 owner, it not worth to get it,

and I believe if someone get a hold of gx30i's software, we as a gx30/32 owner would be able to upgrade our phone via data cable.

If we can't upgrade, that's fine for me too, since I would only use gx32's bluetooth for headset(card reader is much faster for bluetooth data transfer)

mp3 ringtones is not a big deal, I only listen for mp3s, it's okay for me to not have this funciton.
like I say, it's not worth to spend extra $200, 300(i believe) to get a small upgrade gx30i, since GX40 is coming out fairly soon with better camera.

the question is, when will someone be able to get a hold of the firmware and upgrade OUR poorly crippled GX32?!

Posted by: braindead5400

Wirelessly posted (don't hate, procreate: MOT-E398/0E.20.34R MIB/2.2.1 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.0 UP.Link/5.1.1)

mp3 ringtones arent going to be much better than the mmf tones it already has

This is a little off topic. Samsung is releasing a 5 megapixel camera phone next week, and by the end of this year, they are releasing a 10 megapixel camera phone. Sharp better bust their butts off cause they're going to lose customers like me for being d*ckheads.

Samsung sch-s250

5mega and 10 mega pixels!

Posted by: ducvader

Ignore this post. It's a test post!

Posted by: braindead5400

yea but those are cdma phones. Too bad, they really need to make some for the gsm market, i really don't want to switch to verizon just for the phone

Posted by: ducvader

I don't like verizon either. Maybe they will make GSM versions. Someone will be able to pull it off!

Posted by: ducvader

My test post aren't working! Blah maybe this one will work!

As far as I know the GX30/GX30i hardware platform is the same, so it just might be possible to do a flash upgrade.

The GX30's still pretty much the class leader, so this is just a bit of a boost until the GX40 comes along next year.

I'd just like to say that the GX30i will be available within a couple of weeks at my Vodafone Store ... says the guy that I asked ... but then he said that it'll be the last in the GX series, and that a whole new range of phones will be released from Sharp - the 802 and 902 probably.

Posted by: mastercell

I am waiting for a firmware upgrade as well.

Posted by: GX-31

hell yeah

I could finally feel I had the best phone if I had real BT and video playback.

Rumor has it that the next GX will possibly be 52, and not 42.
