Get Rid Of Verizon Banner On Your Audiovox Cdm 9900

Turn phone On.
Within a few seconds type: 289, press left soft key, #, 1
"NAM 1 Setting?" Choose Yes
Scroll down to "ERI Setting?" Choose Yes.
Where it says "ERI Change Enable", type in 0, scroll down a few times to make sure the 0 stays there.
Press the left directional key once and scroll down 5 times to "General Settings". Choose Yes.
Go to "Idle Banner Settings". Choose Yes.
Type in anything you want...or LEAVE BLANK. Click OK.
Scroll down 10 times and get back to "NAM 1 Setting?" Press the Green Vad "send" key.
Display will say "NAM Writing". Phone will restart. Whatever you typed in will show on the display.

someone posted this already...but i would leave the "eri change enable" to 1 cause the roaming triangle would start blinking....u can still change the banner if that's left to "1"

I've tried this ten times (when the other member posted it) and it never seems to work for me.

I'm gonna try ONE more time, but GAH! It just doesn't work for me.

edit// tried again: Sure enough... "NAM WRITING..." and when it started back up: VERIZON WIRELESS, still at the top.

It works on mine also, but I also have to wait for a few seconds for the Verizon banner to leave and my banner to appear.

I dont know, all I know is I followed those instructions and my banner shows up and stays there right after the phone boots up

I figured out why mine waited so long to change over. Loserpunkkx182 has said in his/her post to leave the "eri change enable to 1" as it would make the roaming triangle blink all the time. Well, I didn't want that so I did leave it set at one. Well, I switched it over to zero like was originally stated to do. Works fine now. No blinking triangle and my banner shows up right away.

Wish we could find more hacks like this!!!!

I have done this too......i have a much easier way though..everyone knows it so i'm not gonna bother to post it again

its a audiovox, but you can change the bootscreen to say: Verizonwireless, Toshiba or some other message.

How long do you have to wait to input the 289, soft key, #, 1 sequence? I can't seem to get this trick to work. I guess I'm just an idiot. Thanks for any and all help.

I can change the banner but I get the blinking triangle! I tried leaving the ERI enabled to 1 instead of 0 but then the verizon banner comes back! Has anyone been able to change the banner and not get the blinking triangle!!!!!!! HELP!!!!!

Probably just about all of us have changed our banner and the triangle doesn't blink.

Did you change anything else or have anything else done before you attempted this?

Thought I was pretty good at following directions. I've tried it more than a few times now with the same results. I haven't changed anything on the phone and this was the first mod I tried. Let me ask you guys this to get rid of the blinking triangle to you set the ERI to 1 or 0? I want to get rid of the Verizon banner! thanks in advance for your assistance!

Does making this change alter anything else? IE, mess with hidden settings, or features that may not work as a result?

Or is this strictly removing the banner, and nothing more?

Also, would doing this cause the warranty to be voided?

No, this doesn't mess with anything else as long as you follow the instructions to the tee. Everything will continue to work as usual.

Yes, this may cause your warrantly to be voided, but just remember what you did and change it back should some other problem arise that causes you to take the phone in.

How quick do you have to be when entering these numbers? I think I am either doing it too fast, or not fast enough, as I either get the wallpaper screen, or the "dialing" screen, with the latter numbers showing up as if I intend to dial out.

Providing the changes can be "undone" if I need to take the phone in, I'd really like to remove this banner. It's just odd that I am finding difficulty at step 1.
