Take any mp3 song you want/have

open the program Audacity.

Step 1. Go to Edit>Preferences>File Formats

You should see MP3 Export Setup.

Change the Bitrate to 24. (You should only have to do this once, because it will remember the setting from now on. But it's the most important step.)

Step 2. Load the song you want to edit

Step 3. Select the portion of the Mp3 that you want to make a ringtone. 40 to 55 seconds. Anything more is a waste (because your voice mail will kick in.)

Step 4. Edit>Trim or Cntl+T. This trims your song down to what you want.

Step 5. Click on the song name in the edit window, a drop down menu should appear.

Step 6. Set Sample format to 24=bit (When you change this it take your computer a few seconds, to refresh)

Step 7. Set the Rate to 16000hz (This is just below where you set the sample format. (When you change this the song will be really slow, so we need to speed it up again.)

Step 8. Highlight the entire track, Click and drag. (It might help to zoom out a little bit. (under the view tab or Ctrl+3)

Step 9. With the track highlighted go to Effect>Change Speed
Change the percentage to 175% (You won't be able to select change speed if you don't have your track selected.) Wait for your computer to process, check your playback, should be playing the right speed now.

Step 10. Go to the Track name drop down window, and select Split Stereo Track.

Step 11. (You have two tracks now, one for the Left and one for the Right, so they need to be combined into one mono track.) Go to the drop down menu for each track and set them to Mono.

Step 12. File>Export Mp3 (You should get a warning saying the the tracks will be mixed down to a single mono channel. This is good.) Name your Mp3 and click the save button.

Step 13. Go to where you saved your file and right click & check properties. Your file size should be somewhere in the range of (100K to 180K) Depends on how long your track is. If it's larger than 250K you did something wrong. Go back and re-follow the steps.

Your done, follow the intructions on where your suppose to place track on your phone.

Enjoy your new tunes..
