yeah you can do it. i did it last month with one i bought off ebay...
you wont have @metro but you can have everything else...
what tools do you have?
you'll need the following:
-Data Cable
-Bitpim
-Gagin
-Kyocera PST
if you dont have the data cable get one off ebay or something they're $10 or less
once you have it, depending on your operation system (windows xp?) use bitpim (or gagin then bitpim) to get a file called nvm.security off the phone (under the NVM folder) open it with notepad and you'll get the SPC unlock code. with that, you can reprogram the phone and then call metropcs to do a ESN change.
