i just acquired a t-mobile sidekick from a customer at my stand who upgraded to a new plan my question to anyone out there is can it be unlocked to be used on at&t wireless or cingular wireless most preferably at&t wireless????

The answer to that is probably no. In order for things like the internet and email to be accessable, it connects to Danger's server. T-Mobile is the only US provider that has a gateway to this. Cingular and AT&T Wireless do not to my knowlege. AT&T Wireless has just unveiled a new thing called OGO which is similar to a Sidekick, but no web browsing--strictly IM and email.

It's unlockable in the sense the phone can be put on AT&T or Cingular with an unlock code. It should only have the 1900 band radio in it though.

Keep in mind that all you will be able to do is use the phone and SMS portions. The rest of the functions require a backend server to communicate over the internet. AIM, browsing and email will be useless. The basic PIM functions will work fine, though.

I don't know if it can cross to another provider with backend servers, like Suncom or Edge.

it would be great since suncom and edge are part of att's wireless network.. i really want a sd2 on at&t

But, Suncom and Edge are seperate from AT&T Wireless. So, you can't get the hiptop on AT&T Wireless.
