Am I the only one that has had trouble getting on-line with this phone? It appears that way. I have Cingular so everyhting should be preset. However, I have not been able to get on-line yet. Can anyone share their Cingular settings to make sure mine are correct. Thanks

First and foremost (forgive me for this) do you subscribe to any of Cingular's online services? WIX, MediaWorks, etc.

If so, you're right -- it should just work (mostly.)

There aren't too many settings you can get into to modify though you could create your own -- which shouldn't be neccessary.

Maybe if you could be more specific. Can you not get a Web site? What web site?

Well I am subscribed to som type of online service because I was able to go online with my v600 regularly with no problem. I'm not sure what those packages you mentioned are. I cannot currently get to any website with this phone. I hope this is the info you need, I'm sorry for being so vague with my 1st post.

Well, it sounds as if you do have some online service. It's worth checking with Cingular to make sure.

As I said, there really aren't many settings needed to just get online.

Try something simple like http://wap.google.com

If that doesn't work and you *do* have service on your account -- launch your browser and hit the MENU button. Check OPTIONS/CONNECTIONS. It should be set on either THE INTERNET or WAP (not secure WAP.) Try changing to one or the other and let us know.

Blaze -- do you see the "G" GPRS indicator lit on the top line of your home screen?

A suggestion: One that I wish everyone would take () -- in your profile, why not say where you're located? It often really helps to troubleshoot problems.

I did as you said, sometimes it just hangs, other times it says unable to connect.

I do see the G when trying to connect. I am in the miami area. Thanks again for your efforts

Do you see a G when you're NOT trying to connect? If not, it may be that GPRS is down in your area or that you are not properly provisioned by Cingular. If it's the latter, you'll have to call them.

BTW, did you buy this phone from BB?

I do see the G when I am not trying to connect. I don't think it is an area problem because it has been happening to me the last 2 days. Now that I think of it, it may be that I am not properly provisioned by Cingular. The reason I say this is because I had to return my 1st mpx220 because the bluetooth wasn't working, if I recall correctly, I couldn't get on with that one either. Does it make sense that I can get on with the v600 though????

Does the media basi package allow me to go online? That's what I have.

I soent some time on the phone with Cingular and I believe my phone is defective. they say I am provisioned for wireless internet so the problem must be with the phone. Time to go back to best buy one more time, the 1st phone had defective bluetooth, this phone has defective internet. Lets hope things are okay with the next phone I get. I'm also going to pay the $40 additional dollars for the replacement plan.

i just got one of these phones and the internet is very sketchy at best.. it is so slow and everything wasnt hooked up correctly.
i have since managed to get MSN IM and Email and web working most of the time, but i dont think the phone is defective.
i think it has something to do with cingulars wap settings.

i have changed everything over from connect to wap to connect to internet and i have changed the proxy server to ip numbers.

download speeds seem very slow tho, and if i cant get it fixed ill be taking it back to see if the next one works better..
