9900 Ringtones w/o problems

After having problems and being helped so thoughtfully by others in this forum, as well as some trial and error, here are my tips for problem-free ringtone addition:

1. Make sure your file is in .mid format, and recorded (a) without percussion (b) in type Zero (c) record about 30 seconds' worth of each file...this will result in a file between 2-12 kb.

2. Not all email clients will work to send this to your phone. Keep trying. Some can use Yahoo, some can't. Ditto for Outlook-based email. If all else fails, subscribe to www.mail2usa.com, b/c this seems to work. You can attach up to 9 ringtones to send on each email.

3. Send the tones as attachment to yournumber@vzwpix.com after you have registered for a free account there.

4. After your phone receives the tones, try to play them. When opening the email, click soft key for Options, scroll down to Save and save as Sound. You then can find the tone under your Media Gallery....open the tone and rename it to the song name.

I hope this helps someone!!

Mail2usa.com is from me, so everyone acknowledge that info. This all mostly from my original post too.

Not to burst your bubble but people have been doing that for quite a while, not only with MIDI ringtone demos but with short-clip MP3 downloads that some sites offer as song previews before purchase.

Yes, many many people have been getting ringtones on their phones in many different ways....thanks to everyone who has offered their various ways of doing it. Thanks to David for the email website, because that seems to have been the only problem I was having. Seems that with Vox9900, there is more problem in getting the phone to accept the tone than to create the tone in the first place.

But I hope that all of our posts will help someone who may be having problems, since everyone has different problems.
