I am planning to get a signal booster like this one for my SE T-610. The signal inside my apartment is pretty much zero. Does the booster really work ? I am sceptical but want to give it a try..

hi mnsweeps!
I was curious about those antenna boosters myself. I did a lot of reading and found out that they do help the signal, but only a very small amount i.e you woulnd't notice any extra bars on your service indicator. If you decide to remove it one day, it leaves your phone and fingers sticky.
Do you get decent service outside of your apartment? One thing you can do is get a car antenna and stick it outside of a window. Likewise, this isn't likely to give a significant service boost, but it just may push your reception over the edge enough to call it usable. . . if you keep the phone by the window AND you get good service just outside the building.
I'm not too familiar with the phone you're using, it may be a model that gets bad reception. It may be possible to hack to phone somehow to get better reception. My girlfriend has a T300 that gets horrible service, i just read that you can firmware flash it to a T310 and it will get much better reception and features, the hardware happens to be the same. Something like this may be an option for you.
Your other option is to get some kind of transformer that will increase service significantly, you'd be lucky to find one under $400 USD though.
Keep in mind that dumpster diving is always an option! Cellular dealers throw out A LOT of good phones. The T226 that my girlfriend is now using came from a dumpster! It gets MUCH better service than her T300 AND it was otherwise going to fill a landfill! how about that?
i hope this helped!

since T610 has bt
simply buy a bt headset, and leave a phone where it can get signal
