I NEED HELP! I just got my phone (2 wks)

#1:I need the stupid yellow box w/the clock & date in it OFF of my main screen.

#2:I have found that a png file for backgrounds emailed to my phone DOES NOT WORK

#3:.gif files seem to take up almost all of the background but I still have that white border around the graphics unlike the ones that came in the phone. jpg files have large white borders.

#4:I bought a CD on ebay (oops!) that has all kinds of stuff on it including bitpim, bitfling, and brewsky 8900 for uploading tones and backgrounds to my phone....however, our service provider is a cooperative (most of the central part of Oklahoma) and is not an option in brewsky therefore nothing works.

#5:I spent $38 on a USB cable for this phone from my provider, and now I'm starting to think I need a different cable.

There, I think that just about covers all of my inadequacies, except does anyone know how to change an .mmf file into a MIDI file which I am assuming is the only tones this phone will use?

Help! I need somebody!

Thanks for the lovely WORD of encouragement. I don't use these forums...sorry to have inconvenienced you in replying to my post!

Anyway, bitpim doesn't work either

I'll just settle for what I already know.

Thanks anyway!

Get your verizon 8900 working with BitPim/Brewsky and Modem with Futuredial cable

try this:

I got it to work and let me tell you how i did it. I have a verizon 8900.

Keep in mind that the settings phone settings for connecting as modem and connect with Brewskey or BITPIM are different.

That looks like the radioshack cable for the LG VX6000 and that is the one I bought for $22. it uses the future dial drivers. in one of the other posts, there is a USBinstaller.EXE file that install the right drivers. I could not find it on the website. You do need to select LG VX6000 as your phone.

To get it to work with BitPim and Brewsky:
Hit ##7678 and then the END key. Make sure you are set DIAG to UART MAIN and DATA to USB DATA. This is the default that my phone comes up in when I turn it off and on. Connect you phone and direct it to the correct com port and hit the connect button. Mines is set to COM4.

Keep in mind with BITPIM, you can only browse the file system. Brewskey seems to be better although when I sent an MP3 up, it wiped out all my saved MID ringers.

To get it to work as a modem. install the QUICKLINK software as a LG VX6000. This software installs the phone as a modem and installs a Dial UP Networking phone book entry on your computer.

hit ##7678 and then END. Change the DIAG to NULL PORT and DATA to RS232C.

When you launch the QuickLink software, it should be able to read your battery and Signal strength.

goodluck!

let us know if it worked
