I have a Sigmatel USB IrDA Wireless Brigde installed on my computer which is running Windows XP Pro. I have also downloaded the Handset Manager program from the Sharp Mobile website. But when the program launches it keeps telling me 'Trying to connect to handset'. I want to use this program to upload ringtones on the phone. The phone is the GX22S

I've got the same problem with my GX22. You need the drivers for the USB cable, otherwise the program won't be able to find the phone. If anyone knows where to get the drivers, I'd really appreciate you letting me know. Thanks!

In your case, you need to have a IR(infra red) device in order to connect your handset with the "Handset manager". If you still have problem connecting with the Infra Red device, click the "option" tab in the Handset Manager and select "Interface Setup. You can see the Port is suppose to be set to IrCOMM, Handset: Sharp GX series and Interface: IrDA Infrared Port or else you need to uninstall the Handset Manager and reinstall it again with the Infrared option selected. As for USB cable you need to install with the USB cable option

Here's something I found out incidentally:
Thru trials and error with system restore in WinXP Pro, I've found out that the installation of Mcafee Antivirus prevented my gx-22 from connecting to my pc via my usb irda device(MA-620). Even after i disabled the antivirus, there was no connection. It was only after i restored my comp to a state without Mcafee that my gx-22 was able to establish a connection. If u have Mcafee Antivirus installed, maybe u might wanna uninstall it and see if u can get a connection.
