Is my 8900 dead?

I have a CDM8900 and I was playing around and loaded a ring tone on it that for some reason makes the phone crash. It wont boot up anymore, it just displays the telus logo for a bit and then says something about trying to restore user data[7] and then restarts.
Is there any way to hard reset the phone without being inside the OS itself? Or should I just scrap it for parts and reactivate my Samsung A-540?
Any suggestions greatly appreciated.
Thanks again.

Some people have had success in breaking the phone out of that loop by randomly opening and closing the phone, and intermittently pressing the end key. At least that was how it was described to me. Once you break it out of the loop you should be able to connect to the handset with BitPim and resolve the problem.
If you are able to break the phone out of the loop, could you please post what you did, so was have some more corroboration as to that fixing the issue?
Thanks

I'll try that when I get home. Hopefully it will work.

If you get it back you'll most likely want to replace your existing ringer index file with the one from this thread.
Good luck

No luck breaking it out of the loop yet. Any other suggestions?
God why couldnt they just have a hard reset button combination like the palm pilots and ipods (debug menu) have/used to have.

yo just call or go to your service providers store because when it's a software problem usually they just give you the smae phone for free.(new)

Already tried going back to telus, they wont help me because it has gotten wet before but it was a long while ago and even though it has worked fine ever since they said i have no warranty because of it and told me to buy a new phone.

Well technically the phone was on loan from a freind of mine.
Make me an offer and ill run it by him. Everything is good on it including the battery, the software just locks up. The screens are excellent, and theres barely any ware on the chasis at all.
