the caller id on my phone is not smart at all. maybe motorola designed it. if i enter a persons 7 digit number it shows their name when i call. but when they call me it shows the 10 digit number and isnt smart enuff to kno its the same person and doesnt sho the name. i hate that becuz people who have personal ringers i dont here them. any chance of a s/w upgrade to fix this?

The reason your personalized rings don't work is because the phone is designed to recognize the incoming number as it's set up with the carrier your using. For example, if your number was 555-3245 than your number in the system of your carrier would be 1(902)555-3245. If you want your personal rings to work than you'd need to save the number as area code and then the number. hth.

i have had many nokias and they were able to recognize that it was the same number.
