Well, a number of months ago i bought a cheap USB cable supposedly made for the 8900 on eBay. It has an inline converter, and Windows XP detected it as a Curitel cable. I downloaded the drivers (via the link in the "8900 Tutorials" thread), and connected my phone to the computer.
I was able to use my phone as a modem, but never able to connect to BitPim or Brewsky, until last night.
I read a post of incorrect information in another thread, that said how to configure the PORT settings on the phone. I was able to configure it correctly using common sense. Here's what I did:
Type ##7678 {END} into your phone (aka ##PORT {END}, if you're going by the letters on the keypad.)
Enter the Runtime DevMap.
For Diag, change it to USB Diag.
For Data, change it to USB Data.
Ok, all should be good on the phone end of this.
Now you need to find the com port on your computer to connect to. I found that BitPim told me I was using COM4, even before I had figured out the settings to change on my phone. So, go to BitPim, and find the COM port that you are using (you can find out how to do this by reading Cuwmb's post, "8900 Tutorials").
I would suggest starting out using Brewsky (search for it).
It is simple, select your carrier in Brewsky, select the port, then click connect.
*NOTE* - No one has mentioned this before, but for ME, atleast, everytime the phone is rebooted, you need to go back to the ##7678 END setting, and change the Diag to USB Diag.
There you go, all should be well now.
Please leave feedback or questions.
