Questions concerning the Motorola Mpx220???

Alright i just got home from Best Buy where i was all set to purchase the Motorola Mpx220. The young lady there was nice enough to take a new phone out of the box and let me play with it since the display model wasnt working. I loved the phone, its menu and everything it looked amazing. i liked the feel of it and all. To my suprise it was all plastic but it felt solid especially the flip. I played with the camera and yea it was a bit of a disapointment but hey its a cell phone first right...

So anyways i decided to check out the profiles and ringtones. so i set the phone on outdoor mode, as most of you recomended as the best setting and changed everything to loudest (or loud dont remember exactally what it was called), and went to hear the ringtones. I couldnt hear them...They were about as loud as the ringtones on my V600 when set on 1. I even placed the earpiece up to my ear and it was still incrediably low sounding. to me it sounded like the ringtones sound was comming out of the earpiece speaker and not the external speaker (speakerphone piece) What's up with that... was i dong something wrong, did i not change a setting...

Someone please help and explain this because like i said i was really all set to purchase this phone except for the fact of the almost unhearable ringtones.

thanks in advance

brian

Some of the plastic covers on that phone out of the box are almost impossible to see. I'm sure that was the problem.

do you guys all have one... how loud is your ringtone... is it atleast as loud as a V600. I mean the V600 is soft but atleast i can hear it

Its not as loud as the v600. I owned one just before I got the 220. It is about as loud as the i600 that I had was though.

never had an i600. with the V600 volume settings in mind, how loud was the mpx220 compared to the V600. was it loud setting 4 on the V600...ya know what i mean

Also why would they release such a high end phone with a very very low speaker for the ringtones.... it has to be some sort of seem file that we will be able to edit...right???

I would say, and its been a few weeks so I dont remember exactly, that the volume about 3/4 up on the v600 is the same as full on the 220. I have used the 220 in some rather noisy enviroments and while I could hear everything that was said it was a bit of a strain, more so than the v600 was.

do you think that by any chance that they will fix these issues when the ATTWS or cingular version comes out... Because i have heard to many bad things about the best buy cingular version

Some of those plastice covers are stuck way tight, nothing like the little static plastic pieces on my phones.

A Moto rep came into my store and I asked him about it because I bought the phone the night before and his response was that the reason they were doing it is to push the sales of their BT headsets which suck anyway jabra's are better IMO seeing as I have 4 diffrent ones... Working at best buy makes you broke

what sucks about the moto bt headsets? i have 2 and they work great..not to mention the fact that they are half the size of those jabra things.
