Why is it that 7610 original themes don't work on the 6600?

I've been trying to install the pink catalina theme that comes with the default themes on the 7610 to my 6600. It installs ok but when I go to select the theme it doesn't load at all. Anyone know any reasoning behind that?

cuz 7610 uses a more update version of symbian...so basically u can use a 6600 theme on 7610, but not a 7610 theme on a 6600..catch what i mean?

Is it possible to upgrade the 6600 symbian to the same one ast the 7610??. I've got a 6620 coming from ebay on monday. Does that ahve the same symbian as the 6600 or 7610?

If this is covered somewhere else, just slap me in the right direction. . I used the search zZz.

the 6620 has the symbian 7.0s version - its the same as on the 7610...

6600 also has the symbian 7.0.. so shudn't the themes be compatible?

LOL this is an old thread, but I've never had a problem running any theme for my phone. [I've got a 6620] And I'm pretty sure I've loaded all the themes made for the 7610 / mango themes / wutever.

Do you have any idea with what we are talking about? The themes people are trying to use have nothing to do with media etc stuff. and Nokia wouldn't waste their time trying to lock a THEME to a certain phone.

The issue at hand is whether or not a 7610 theme can be loaded on a 6600.

That's got nothing to do with Nokia
protecting their best interest since both phones are nokias.

m just giving my opinion, and it is not about being able to load to 1 phone to another... what darla said, is that she is able to load, but can not use em.... it is even worse with the nokia poly rigntones, you cant even transfer em coz of the drm, whereas other ringtones can be transferred that easily... bottom line, it is just my opinion as much as everybody are giving theirs... btw, do you have better one

I think 7610/6620 etc have the version 2 of symbian 7, so their themes don't work on 6600

6600, 6620, 7610, and 6260 are all using Symbian OS 7.0s with Series 60 Developer Platform 2.0 and i think all with Feature Pack 1

the 36xx, n-gage, qd, and 7650 are all Symbian OS 6.1 with Series 60 Developer Platform 1.0 which is the reason they dont have themes

the 6630 is Symbian OS 8.0 with Series 60 Developer Platform 2.0 Feature Pack 2

so in essence, as another guy have said, any themes done for 6600 can be used for 7610 and vice-versa, provided of course these themes are not locked, all the S60 are OMA DRM Forward Locked, but the delivery method are either WAP or MMS, so that is where m also confused...

it wont work, coz it is locked-> DRM thingy!

edit: btw, the latest Nokia Series 60 Theme Studio V 1.2 now has an option for DRM Skins, hence if I make my own skins and I decided to lock it, you will not be able to use it without getting the key to unlock it...

I've got a 6620 running the 7610 themes just fine. How could people on mirc or anywhere else who have collections of series 60 themes and be sharing them? If they were all locked like you say, then there would no point to distribute something that doesn't work on someone else's phone. I don't think the series 60 themes floating around out there are all cracked dmr wuteverz.

IF the Theme is DRM Locked then u cant use it, without the key... and that is that, i think that is not that too difficult to understand... most of the themes out ther are not locked, so use it while u can, unless untill the owner starts locking it...

you see, u dont get it, i did not say that all of those themes available on the net is locked, what i am saying is that it is possible that those themes darla is trying to use is locked, and that is all, so dont you go pointing out something that i am not saying nor m i insinuating it...

What you posted was what the series 60 theme studio added features does. Why would she be using a theme studio ?

I don't think the series 60 theme would automatically lock the themes either.
It's probably an additional feature in case you wanted to be a jerk and not share.

There are plenty of forums for ONLY themes that use the series 60 theme creator since those are all widely available for download I don't understand how the drm could be the culprit.

all i am saying is that there is a possibility that those themes are locked, the reason i am pointing out Nokia Theme Creator is to show that NOW even themes can be locked...

we have already established the facts that 7610 themes can work on 6600 and vice versa, hence, nothing to do with OS and Platforms, and so i am suggesting that it is possible that the themes are OMA DRM locked! if you dont understand what is DRM then learn it 1st...

Maybe I should rephrase the question... HAS ANYONE GOTTEN A OEM 7610 THEME ON ANY OTHER SERIES 60 PHONE SUCH AS 600/6620? I am able to install the theme, but when I select it the default theme shows up.

I think I agree that it might be a DRM thingie... since the new theme editor specifically points that out. Now the funny thing with that is... I tried openeing the catalina theme, since I have the mbm or whatever its called in the Nokia Theme Editor and I can't access it.

Solution to my problem? Lol guess I have to get a 7610!!!
