I notice that my front tires treads are almost gone compared to the back tires. I'm not sure if i should switch it with the back tires or just get a whole new set.
I'm driving a 01 4dr honda civic and i live in california. The only kinda of weather i see is rain and sun.
i don't know anything about tires so can u suggest some decent priced tires? thanks

Always good to get an entire set (4).
An excellent start is visiting www.tirerack.com and run through the consumer reviews. It should at least give you an idea.
A price range on what you're willing to spend would help some

well that's the thing, i don't know how much a good set of tires usually cost. That's why i'm kind of effy to go to the tires shop because i'm not sure what kind of prices to expect.
also, should i go a tire store and talk to them about it?
i'm hopping for the prices to be under 250 i guess. well it's up to my parents since they're the one that are going to be paying for it.

You can always get two, put the back onto the front, rotate them and put the new ones on the back. Serves more purpose with a RWD car, but I did that with my last car (FWD) also..
Do what Bonka said and read some reviews on tires. (Find your size by looking on the tires.. would look something like 185/65R14 for example. Generally, Wheel Works and American Tire have the best prices (as compared to Sears or Big-O)

Here's a more specific link in case you haven't found it:
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/surveyresults/index.jsp
Reviews categorized by tire type. Depending on whether you're just looking for an OE replacement or something a little better, you should be able to find it in there. I'm not sure the frequency of rain is in California but I would figure a performance/high-performance all-season tire would just be in your neck of the woods
When you go through the customer reviews, make note of their location and the tread life, as well as vehicles similar to yours. They are good indicators for comparison.
As far as I know, the following all-seasons I've read to be very good and they should be very easy to find.
Continental ContiExtremeContact
Bridgestone Potenza RE950
Dunlop SP Sport 5000
Toyo Spectrum
Falken Ziex ZE-512
