SMT 5600 - stop the noise

I receive alerts to my phone of any server issues. I like having long, loud tones playing instead of the short ones whenever I receive an email/SMS message to make sure I have time to hear it.
Anyway, when the tone starts playing whenever I receive a message, I can't get the thing to stop. It continues playing throughout the whole tone. Which is really embarrasing if I'm in a public place. Is there anyway of stopping this thing once a tone starts going off? On my Nokia 6820, all I had to do was press any key to stop it. I might have to take the phone back if not. Thanks.
