Verizon Wireless Banner Help

I tried doing this (I've done this before but Verizon just replaced my old SE47 with a new one so I was redoing it)
What happened was I forgot how to do it but did it anyway and now it says I'm 'roaming'. I edited both eri.bin and eri1.bin on my phone and changed Verizon WirelessA and B to spaces and A and B on both eri and eri1.
I DID NOT use WinHex, instead I just used notepad, is this why I'm now roaming?
Can someone please restate the instructions, how to get out of roaming, and if you can upload the ORIGINAL eri and eri1.bin files please

see the problem is that u didn't use winhex

this is for the lg vx6000 but the instructions are the same for both phones
