When cingular finally get the Mpx220 will the phone still be unlocked like the ones at best buy?

I believe so. From what I understand, all Cingular world phones are unlocked.

A little researching, reading, and such at this site would have told you that all Cingular tri & quad mode phones are sold unlocked.

Ease up on the guy -

True, every tri/quad sold by Cingular up until now has been unlocked. However, given the impending integration with AT&T Wireless (which has historically locked all of its phones) and rumors (also posted on HoFo) that Cingular may start locking its phones, it is a reasonable question.

As a practical matter, since the Best Buy MPx220's are unlocked and at least some of the stock that Cingular will sell will undoubtedly be the same versions (i.e., if there really is a firmware update, I doubt 100% of the Cingular warehouse stock will get flashed in time for 11/15), I'd be shocked if Cingular suddenly starts locking a model that had already been out as an unlocked phone.

I think the better question would be if new tri/quad models from Cingular (i.e., not yet released) will sell as locked phones. And I think all we can do on that is speculate.

I purchased the MPX220 through the local corporate rep in Memphis and it is unlocked.
