While we've all been wait for some sort of showing of the GX40, we get this: The GX25

Nothing to fear about, thats just an upgrade for the entry level Sharp phones.

Yeah, don't think linearly, think in parallel. Sharp have three tiers, the low-mid-range (GX1x), mid-range (GX2x) and the high-end (GX3x). Then they have the 3G phones (8xx and 9xx). If you're interested in high-end stuff and live in Vodafone land then the 8xx and 9xx are going to be it. The GX25 is just an update of the GX20 and in my opinion, an excellent update too.

well yea but I'm just getting desparate for the GX40 to come out

Just get the 902 then.

I think they are going in the wrong direction for a different reason. They need to make a smartphone model soon. Convergence is the future. When smartphones start to come down in price, no will settle for an "ordinary" phone.

I'm not actually sure if a GX40 is actually going to be released, or if they are just rumors. I asked a representative at a Vodafone store, who said that the GX25 and the GX30i were the last GX phones to be released by Sharp, and then a whole new range - the 802/902 - are to be released. No mention of a GX40.

WHAT!?
no gx 40!?

does the 902 play mpeg files?
for example, can i download a movie from the internet and play it in the phone?

To be honest it'd make sense if a 902 was released but not a GX40, simply because these phones are rather similar anyway, except that one is 2.5G and one is 3G. The fact that these phones are similar could cut off sales of one of them if the other is cheaper.

I think it's pretty obvious that Vodafone's focus right now is 3G. They're not going to come out with something that'll mess up that message because they've got a multibillion bet on 3G. If the GX40 comes out I reckon will be next year, once 3G starts to gain traction or maybe SmarTone or the other folks might get it before Voda because they'll want to press on with a new refreshed GX. Hmm, maybe Voda's going to get the GX42 this time?

Hello,

I live in USA and I'm currently using a SmarTone branded Sharp GX-32 and I absolutely love it. Recently, I heard about a new phone from Sharp called Sharp 902 and after investigating i found out that it will be exclusive to Vodaphone 3G Network.

Is that true ? or will you be carrying a GMS version of that phone(just like you had Gx-32 in place of Voda Gx-30)?
If you will be carrying that phone then what is the expected release date and price ?

Thanks for your time.

make sense ?
