Enabling PST Advanced Features

Just an FYI on something I came across and thought I'd share.
There is a registry key entry you can set that will activate more advanced options within the PST software.
Open up your registry editor and locate the following key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Kyocera\KWPST\Server
Inside there, create a new DWORD value and call it "InternalUse" (without quotes) and give it a HEX value of 4d2 (decimal value 1234).
Exit out and start up the PST.
You can make sure it took by opening up the Service Programming app and checking to see if the Advanced and Provisioning tabs are there. If they are, you're set.

YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA RIGHT!!!!
I have been looking all over for someone who knew how to activate Kyocera PST as the internal edition!
Thank you very much. Works like a charm!

I won't be home for a few weeks but I am curious to know what extra settings you can tweak after you unlock the PST advance features. Anything significant?

I think the most significant feature in the unlocked PST would be the ability to select the threshold for when the phone starts looking for other networks if there's a weak signal.
There are also options to enable force analog menu as well as some other miscellaneous features like T9 type.
Lots of other menus with carrier names and settings specific to each carrier. Also a Min Lock setting (heard about it but have no idea what that is) and Akey Type selection, etc.

Thank you for the great and useful TIP!

This is great. If I would've known about this a year ago, I maybe would've bought a VZW branded Phantom instead of USCC.
You can actually switch the phone between Phantom, Blade, and Rave themes.
I was surprised to see the shortcuts are actually related to the carrier, and not a sub-selection.
However, it would appear that the Rx threshold feature does not actually work, at least not how I'd envision. I set the level to 90 db, but the phone still didn't search.
Also, in the more resent USCC firmware, the disable BREW option doesn't actually hide the menu. This feature worked on the earlier software.
The download embedded BREW doesn't seem to work either.
Does anyone know the key to enable the PRL editor?
Also, could someone provide the BREW(GetItNow) settings for VZW's network?

when you are in regedit, and you have navigated to the correct key, right click anywhere in the blank open space on the right hand panel of the window, and a menu comes up. Select New -> DWORD and you can set the name of the DWORD then press enter, then double click on it and you can change the value of the dword entry

Hello all,
I was just wondering if anyone has a working link to a current version (or one that supports my 3245) of the Kyocera PST program. I've read posts about this software from earlier this year and even tried to download it from the links that were provided but they're all dead now.
Thank you.

It doesn't give me any options for the Rx Threshold field..just a blank line that I can type into. Would you happen to know what I should set it to for my Slider?

I tried this with Kyocera Wireless PST 3.7.95 but it didn't seem to add any new tabs. Does anyone have an update to the reg file to accomplish this?
I tried it with 3.2, and it worked there, but that version is not compatible with the kx2.
thanks.

Ok, managed to find KWPST 3.5. The registry edit works with this version, and 3.5 also supports the KX2 / Koi. So, the advanced features are now available for the KX2.
The first thing I did was switch the carrier to GENERIC K1, instead of Verizon. The shortcut keys changed, which is what I wanted. However, the E911/location icon suddenly became disabled. That worried me a bit so I switched it back. Not sure if there's anything worthwhile to do now...

^- I think aGPS is a network feature, but I'm not fully sure. It's quite possible that by switching to GENERIC K1 causes aGPS to be reset to default settings, but I think Verizon uses Databurst, which requires no phone side configuration.
