was talkin to my dad in HK and he says that the stores are saying the 650 will come early next year..

I have to think of another gadget for him to bring over for christmas now.. hmm..

Unlocked GSM Treo 650s will be out early 2005. Right now, palmOne and T-Mobile are in negotiations about selling the 650, so it's not like they'll never sell it. It just may take some time. Which could be a good thing, given all the gnashing of teeth over the "memory issue".

Like a lot of other GSM phones... do you guys think Cingular/AT&T will beat T-Mobile to market with the 650?

I hope so. When the 650 comes out, I'll be switching from T-Mo to Cingular/AT&T.

It's a shame they won't be launching the GSM version in time for the Holiday season.

GTwinkie I have a question for you?
Why do you want to switch from t-mobile to cingular/att?
J.D. Power and associate actually rates t-mobile much better in the L.A area than cingular/att.
I noticed you're in Santa Monica, is your reception bad? My g-friens is moving there soon (Pasadena) we want to get a gsm service so we can talk on their family plan (meaning Unlimited) I was thinking t-mobile their rate is much better than cingular plus their data plan for unlimited use is $20 vs $70 for cingular and we're planning to get the treo 650.
thanks,

I have Cingular's Media Works Package for $19.99 per month and it includes unlimited net access.

Is it one of those deal they don't offer no more?

...but I have only been with Cingular for about 6 months.

I'm kinda' glad the GSM version won't be out for a little while. I have a friend that just picked up the Sprint version and he said it kept crashing and the software was still buggy.

Hopefully by the time the GSM version comes out, the bugs will have been ironed out.

Had a chance to play with the Sprint version at the airport yesterday and compare it to the 600 - the screen is unbelievable and the 650's camera is head and shoulders above the 600's.

Waiting [im]patiently...

I can't wait for the day when:
. T-Mobile will carry the 650
. P1 will have resolved the memory issue by upgrading to ... 128MB ...
. DUN working on the 650 (not out of the box on the Sprint version right now)
...... and the best for the end: T-Mo will deploy EDGE....

Let's dream that everything will come together
