help with gmail POP

Hi, I've been unable to make the gmail's built-in POP service work with my phone thus far. Has anybody been able to get their Sidekick2 to work with it?

Basically I want:
-All messages sent to my gmail account to show up on my Sidekick as well WITHOUT FORWARDING THEM

-All messages sent from my Sidekick to automatically show up in my gmail 'Sent Mail' folder, preferrably without using forwarding & gmail filters (on method I thought of was to bcc a copy of every sent email to myusername+sent@gmail.com , and set up a filter to send emails addressed to myusername+sent@gmail.com to my sent mail)

Can the sidekick 2 automatically keep synchronized with a gmail account?????

I have tried setting it up this way on the tmobile website, but it couldn't access my account. Yes, I enabled POP on my gmail account:

Protocol: I've tried two different settings:
Autodetect
AND
POP/SSL

Port: 995

Username: I've tried two different settings:
myusername@gmail.com
AND
myusername

Password: ***MYPASSWORD***

Email Folder: Inbox

(*) Collect Email from this account

MORE OPTIONS
From Name: MYNAME

From Address: myusername@gmail.com

Reply-to Name: MYNAME

Reply-to Address: myusername@gmail.com

Copy outgoing messages: myusername+sent@gmail.com

Please, if anybody can help, please send me what settings you used to be successful. Your help is greatly appreciated!!!

P.S. I don't have ANY gmail invites, nor have I ever recieved any besides the one I was initially given from http://isnoop.net/gmailomatic.php

I wish I could offer one as a reward for helping to solve my problem, but alas I have not.

Thanks again!

I've gotten it to work successfully, you have the right settings if your wondering, but it will not synce with the gamil account, and what i didn't like about it is that it also sends the email you have already sent to your inbox, seems cluttered...

I turned off my SKII last night and today my gmail was working. And actually I think there is an option where you don't have to send old email to the gmail folder.

I've been trying to set up my SKII exactly how the above original poster did. I'm having problems getting it to work...keep getting error validating

using port 995 with pop/SSL and autodetect
everything is right atleast i think it is. I don't see it any other way.

TIA

I've gotten this to work fine but I find that my gmail doesn't always come to my SK2 or my home computer through POP. I've had messages sit in my Gmail inbox all day but I don't get them on my SK2 or my personal computer. Since I got it to work successfully I set up frowarding to my tmail address and disabled checking the gmail POP from my SK2. I still left the account set up on my SK2 so that I can still choose to send using the GMail address.

If you don't mind me asking... why is forwarding not an option. It has it's advantages. You get messages sent to TMail immediately vs. waiting 15 minutes for the SK2 to check the gmail account. You also get the messages filtered for you, which cuts out a lot of junk mail (limited space on the SK2). It seems more reliable to me based on my experience not getting messages all day.

thnx for the info...i did the forwarding and seems to be working perfectly. Thanks again.

I had to set up 1 for incoming and one for outgoing and make sure you enable it online

Be sure to enable POP for ALL mail and remember to SAVE your settings before leaving that page. I got the validation error at first too but I hadn't saved my settings. Also double check that you have POP/SSL selected and the port is set to 995. Mine changed back once after verification failed.

wtf its not working. i think imma need a step by step process thing for me the figure it out cuz this stuff wont work

I think the problem could be the password for those getting the email validating error.

I remember this issue with yahoo on the SK2 and tried it.
The hiptop always seem to capitalize the first letter. Just type in your password, backspace to the first letter, delete and retype that letter.

Because its a password it will still show up as a star but instead of it being capital like "A" it will be "a"

Leave everything else as described
using port 995 with pop/SSL and be sure to enable pop on your gmail account.
