I got a SX1 for someone to use on Rogers in Canada. It does NOT work with Rogers (turns itself off immediately after turnon). It works with any other carrier, but Rogers must screw it up again.

So I tried to update the software to SVN 12. Mine has SVN 10 it says. BUT, surprise, once updateing starts it stops at message : Your phone already has a later version of the software. Boloney!! Is 10 higher than 12 at Siemens?

Can anyone help me with that Rogers-headache?

Or does anyone know about the upgrade refusal due to "higher version" already installed? How do I rape this phone into doing what it's supposed to do?

THANSK for any help!!!

I'm with Rogers and I just used my phone a couple of weeks ago in Vancouver and it works just fine.

No idea on why the firmware you have is not upgrading as mine upgraded from 7 to 12.

One more thing, make sure that the USB drivers for SX1 is properly installed in your PC. I had a problem with it at first but now my phone is upgraded to 12. :-)

Which provider supplied your SX1? Mine is from O2 in Germany and is Version 10. With this one upgrading to 12 seems to be refused, as it doesn't read the version properly somehow. A puzzle.

I think I sell the damned phone, warning that it is NOT for Rogers customers. That should leave a big market for it anyway.

I got my phone from a Canadian company that purchased the phone from Russia. Make sure that you have the right variant from the Siemens Official website and USB drivers for SX1 is also a problem with XP so it has to be installed manually. Mine works with Rogers and my phone is unlocked. Isn't O2 a service provider from Europe? Then it sounds like the your phone is not unlocked. Please let me know if I'm wrong on that part. Thanks.

Yup, European, and as unlocked as any European phone I ever saw and got. In Europe they haven't developed the stupid and inefficient mania of locking as over here.

I will check my USB driver. However installing "manually" didn't seem to be an option. It all went automatic, till it stopped.

Cheers.

Yes, unfortunately here in Canada, things are double whammy with the wireless communications world. Good luck with upgrading your phone. Have a good weekend.
