How sturdy is the slide mechanism on the sl56? I think its a nice small and cool phone, but after using nokias, i'm getting to the point where i cant STAND cheap quality phones...

Does anybody have an opinion? I have my eye on one on ebay thats ending soon, so any feedback would be cool...

I'd tell you if I had the phone longer, but I only spent a few days with the SL. My impression is that it was quite sturdy. It slides and clicks open/close. If the click is gone, it can be recalibrated -- the click is basically a metal plate snapping into a hole to hold the phone in place. The metal plate can lose its bounciness and thus not click as well, but you can always bend it a bit more to restore it.

Not sure if that helped at all.

Mine has been sturdy. I had the phone about a year now & it still works great.

mine has been very sturdy in terms of the slide mechanism, and the overall fit and finish of the case, screen, etc. the keys are probably the weakest part of the phone from a physical standpoint - they do sometimes feel a bit flimsy and while i haven't had any problems with mine, others have reported failures and keys falling off/out. the only thing i notice is that the keys sometimes do not register my keystrokes, forcing me to press several times to register a "2" or something like that.

overall though, it's a faily well put together phone (physically). i've dropped it many times and it's still going strong...
