Hello all. First time poster here.

I know this question has probably been asked a dozen times, but here I go...

My local provider (not Verizon) is just switching to CDMA the day after Thanksgiving and I'm looking for a new phone. The two flips they are carrying are the CDM-8900 by Audiovox and the VX-6000 by LG. I've read several posts on both and several reviews as well. Right now I'm leaning toward the 8900, mainly because I'm in a small town and the tri-mode may be useful. But I've read a couple of things that suggested that the 8900 has what one might call a "Fisher Price" type interface with a goofy startup/shutdown tone, and something about a little girl playing paddy cake when a call is coming in?

The LG sounds good to me in just about every way, except mainly the fact that it's only dual mode and I'm afraid of bad reception.

Both appear to have their little quirks, but I suppose that could be said about any phone out there.

Reception is obviously the biggest thing when it comes to a cell phone, especially when you're using it as your only line as I am. My current phone is a Nokia 6360 and it has the best reception of any phone I've ever had, so I'm a little bit spoiled. If anyone can give me some advice, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.
