The camera for taking pictures when its darker sucks!!! The pictures come out really grainy and look horrible. Other phones take pictures fine in the dark. Even phones without the flash take pictures fine with a little light. Unless you have sunlight with the cdm 9900 the pictures just do not look great and its very upsetting to me.

what do you want toshiba to do? repeal the laws of physics?
digital cameras just don't take good pictures without good light.
but there are some annoying things about the phone:
1. no ring/vibrate or vibrate then ring
2. no way to download pics
3. no games available
other than those things, i'm thrilled with the phone.

well if you go on www.textamerica.com and look at other peoples pictures with a lot of different phones there pictures come out fine in the dark. They may still be dark but there not really grainy and crappy looking like the 9900.

I think what you are looking at are typical medium-light indoor pics that look dim... definately not night or low-light shots. Return the 9900, but you're not going to find a better low-light camera in current offerings.

I have ordered but not received a9900 so I am not putting it down (yet) but I have a sanyo 5500 on a sprint line; the quality of the pics in dim light have amazed me as to how good they are---much better than the 5300 I had--but as you mentioned, these are phones, and I will be very happy if the phone part works as good as every one says they do,,
tnx

Thins to keep in mind:
Resolution.
Brightness (press the "LEFT" and "RIGHT" buttons on the directional pad before taking the picture to change how much light you're letting in).
And try setting the Quality to "FINE."
