Tm150 Wap

I'm quite new to cell phone technology, and I've searched hi & lo for the answer to the following question, but with no results......

Isn't there a way to access internet/wap sites on my Sharp TM150 by using my monthly minutes (ie., anytime, night, weekend) without subscribing to the T-Zones service? Is this possible through CSD? What are the settings, and how do I enter them into my phone?

thanks,
Matt

since the tm150 is locked to the tmobile network, you may not be able to do this. On my GX32, you go to settings, internet settings, wap settings, choose an empty profile, go to edit and scroll to CSD settings. If you can do that then all you have to do is get the CSD settings from the tmobile forum. If the TM150 is like motorola phones and won't let you access the internet stuff when its subsidy locked then I can't help you

Oh yea and I have to ask, why waste your minutes? Why not just pay 4.99 a month and get gprs through tzones?

Posted by: matthewt24

to answer your question, i really don't use that many minutes each month. and i would rarely use the internet service, so it wouldn't make sense for me to waste the $5 on t-zones.

but, i think i figured out the answer to my question...

- Settings->Account Settings->Browser Settings....pick an empty profile and use these settings:

Profile name: (whatever you prefer)
Gateway address: 010.168.200.050
Homepage: wap.yahoo.com
Port number: 9201
Connection type: CSD
CSD Settings: Phone No.:19132440821
CSD Settings: Line type: ISDN

Save the settings, hit the t-zones button, then browse away!

I also don't subscribe to T-Zones (don't use/need the internet on my phone), however with my TM150 that I just got last week, I can only download games via WAP (not with the SD card), so my question is if I did this change to my phone, are you saying that I can get online without paying the T-Zones $4.99/mo and if I use the WAP during my free night/weekend minutes, won't be charged to get online??

Please let me know as I'd love to just get online for a few minutes to download some games without paying the stupid monthly internet fee.

Thanks!

well, I don't use it very often, but I have still never been charged. I would assume you can download games, but i don't know that there are any games out there for the tm150. it can't hurt to try, and see what happens on your next bill.

How would I go about changing these setting so I can use the gateway other than T-Zones and not get charged for using minutes under the csd?

Thanks,
Tom

sorry, but i don't know if that's possible. i think, regardless, you would get charged for your minutes used because you're using your phone service to connect. as for changing the t-zones gateway, i'm not sure about that.

With this process, does that mean that you could browse the Internet without using minutes on nights and weekends, since those minutes are free?

Thanks for this information, very cool!

Wirelessly posted (Sharp TM150: SHARP-TM-150/1.0 Profile/MIDP-1.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.0 UP.Browser/6.2.2.6.c.2.102 (GUI) MMP/1.0)

Wow. People are cheap.

Posted by: matthewt24

cheap....or smart? i seriously use this method once every couple months for about 2 minutes checking weather and sports scores when i'm bored. Why the heck would i want to spend $5/mo ($60/yr) on something I so rarely use?

Could a TM150 owner that has reset the Wap to use their own minutes please post all of their settings that they are using line by line? I've tried a bunch of different settings, homepages, gateways, etc and can't get mine to connect at all.

Please help!

thanks.

Daki,

I just changed my settings the same way and it should just use your regular minutes, so if you get online at night and on the weekends, the minutes should be free (as per your plan).

As for games, unfortunately there are not many suited for the TM150's larger screen and they can only be downloaded via wap, not the sd card. The site with the most TM150 compatible games I've found is at wap.getjar.com, but they are mostly small on the screen (only appear in like a corner of the screen).

Otherwise, go to http://www.midlet.org/ try that site from your phone, go to the "game" section and you can download and try different ones to see if they work (and easily delete if they don't) on your phone. One's that work full screen on the TM150 are : Astrogame, Spruce driver, Monkey madness, in color and full size.

Hi I wanted to know if you had to put your own phone # where it asks for it in the internet settings for the tm150. Or is there another number to use? Thanks!

Posted by: beatarkitek

so there will be no charges if we use this profile? other than ur minutes being used?

Posted by: jmk32

Per the post on the first page of this discussion, you need to use the phone # below, not your own:

Profile name: (whatever you prefer)
Gateway address: 010.168.200.050
Homepage: wap.yahoo.com
Port number: 9201
Connection type: CSD
CSD Settings: Phone No.:19132440821
CSD Settings: Line type: ISDN
