"Locked" shortcuts on "Go To"?

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

The "Go To" feature on the Nokia 6600 (pictured left) would be really handy if it weren't for the fact that T-Mobile has pre-installed a half dozen shortcuts that are somehow locked and can't be removed. These include such "useful" things as "t-zones", "t-zones tones", "t-zones images", "My Journal", etc. These are in addition to Nokia's own Calendar, Inbox, and Notes shortcuts.

I asked T-Mobile tech support how to remove the pre-installed shortcuts. They said, "you can't."

It's pretty clear T-Mobile is just trying to "advertise" services and get a little extra revenue, but they've done so at the cost of usability: screen real estate is a premium on such a small device.

So, Nokia modders and gurus ... is there a way to get rid of all the t-zone crap on the "Go To" app?

You make it sound too easy.

So, what's involved in flashing firmware on a series 60 phone?

Cannot help with flash, but alternate to get them out of way- create new folder in menu. Move that junk in tiere. I was able to move entire menu option on AT&T variation of what you have

Hmm, on my "Go To" application, the only options on the "Options" menu are: Open, Edit shortcut name, Move, List view, Help, and Exit. There doesn't seem to be a way of creating a new folder.

Oh well.

No, dude...hehe

Lantern meant go into your menu (just press menu button) then click on Options & select "New Folder". Create is name/rename it then go into your GoTo folder and select one of the Tmobile branded crap and click Options & select Move; then highlight & select the newly created folder. do that for all tmobile stuff you dont want inthe GoTo folder.

Heck maybe you could delete them permanently once in the newly created folder. I wouldnt unless you know your never gonna use them.

cheers

With t-mobile branded 6600, your sol. your gonna have to follow angel_wing0's advice, get it flashed. I have it too, but I don't even use the Go to Application.
