GD-88 will not be available to you unless you are going to China to get it.

GD88 is the same as GD87. GD87 will be available in about 1 month. It is hard to say which one will be better since the panasonic has not been released yet. I suppose though that the GD87/88 will be better since it has a camera, a TFT display and support for MMS.

To say that there are the same as is entirely untrue!! It may share the same hardware and similar software, but if they were the same, then there would not be different model numbers. In the case of the Chinese/Taiwanese language support, there are major changes to the user interface. It is not as simple as changing the language. At a minimum there needs to be 16 bits/character support as opposed to 8 bits/character for most other languages. If that were not true then every language in Europe would have there own model number.
Second, last I saw Hong Kong is no longer a British colony. It may not be mainland China, but it is not it's own country. The GD-88 will be sold in Bejing as well as Taiwan.
Third, the handset is still 6-8 weeks out. Read the other thread. I am not sure about the S100 but I believe that the GD-88/GD-87/GU-87 is a higher tier phone than the S100. Including things like the integrated camera, POP email support, True 67K TFT screen, voice command/dial, built in speaker phone and the list goes on.
