Hi all! I am trying to convert my T616 to the T637. I know how to change the housing but I do not know how to upgrade the firmware. I got all the necessary cable (Terminator dongle and the T637 firmware). Can someone please tell me the procedure for the whole upgrade process. Thank you so much!

has anyone tried doing this yet? i tried flashing my t616 with t637 firmware today but i think it died =(

anybody know how i can get the phone to power on? or how i can get the div to reflash it? thanks...

you are going to have to buy the T630/T637 TFT Display... The T637 firmware only knows how to read the TFT display.. the T610/T616 is a LCD display thus why the phone would "die"

There is a built in limitation that prevents this.

T610 can be converted to T630 by flashing and changing LCD, but this can not be done with T616 and T637. Sorry!

I agree with evan_silbert. The hardware differences between the T610, and T630 are minimal, and functionally they are equivalent (only differ in hardware revision numbers).

However, the 850MHz radio inside the T637 is actually a different chip and can put out much more power than the T616 counterpart. Due to the hardware differences, it may be very difficult or simply not possible to load a T637 firmware onto a T616, at least with the given software/hardware and firmware files readily available to us.

you can swap the T637 antenna into the T616.
and swap the housing.

you might just want to trade in your modded T616 for a
real T637.... or save up and get a K700...... heck S710a from Cingular has more juice due to the 850mhz....... or just wait for the K750/W800 850mhz versions to materialize.
