I know the 5600 has Windows Media Player 10, but I hear the SP3i only has WMP 9.
Is this accurate?

The SP3i (GSM 900Mhz) that are shipping right now don't have WMP10.

But the SP3i GSM 850MHz support will have WMP10.

kris_kumar, noticed that you own both the mpx220 and sp3i. Which one of these units do you prefer and why?

Provided Motorola "fixes" the problems on the MPx220, the decision would ultimately boil down to two things
- Which form factor do you like?
- Price/Deal (or Carrier)?

I just got the SP3i, so still getting used to it. I feel that it is a very refined product in terms of the software it is running. It has great looks. Good build quality.

The MPx220 on the other hand, has great hardware specs. Better than the SP3i. The software issues are annoying. Once they are fixed, there is nothing stopping this device.

I personally am a little tilted in favor of the MPx220 because of its hardware specs and I like clam shell, bigger keypad. Software issues are matter of time. SP3i has gained a lot of refinement at the expense of C500 launch.

The only thing, a big thing, the reason that prompted me to get SP3i was that i-mate is pretty good at releasing product updates. Moto will issue fixes, that too after a lot of hue and cry by its customers. But Moto will not, I am guessing, issue an update for WMP10 or other OS updates/features. As an editor for SmartphoneThoughts.com, I felt that having proper and easy access to the updates will help me.

FYI i got my sp3i from gsmphonesource.com and it came with wm10.

Really? I don't understand this. There are some that claim the SP3i does *not* have WMP10. Fewer claim it does. If some do, wouldn't there be an update on iMate's site for those who don't?

Is there anyway you could post a screen shot of WMP10 on your SP3i for others to confirm? This would certainly be big on serveral forums on the net.

i'm pretty sure it's the US version, but am not sure how to check. you can check the specs at www.gsmphonesource.com. they also had the best price that i could find $409 US.
