unlocked s700i problems with T-mobile in the US

I just got a s700i and I quickly pulled my t-mobile sim card from my old t68i and plopped it into the phone. T-mobile was kind enough to send me the internet and mms settings.

I just took off on a road trip and I'm having trouble with it in a few places:

- about an hour away from home, it suddenly joined the cingular network and I can't seem to get it back onto t-mobile. When I do a network scan, it only sees cingular and at&t, even though I know I'm within range of many t-mobile towers. I found the network setting to not automatically join new networks, but it's a bit too late. How can I get back to t-mobile and stay there?

- I've used it as a data connection via bluetooth and my mac (I used to use my t68i for this too), but according to my mac, it claims the connection is only a 2400bps connection. I'm using one of the stock mac scripts for a 19.2 modem. It seems slower than normal, but I'm not sure if it's really only 2400bps.

- I can send photos with the picture message function, but not directly as normal email. How would I do that?
