Motorola V60g versus Nokia 8260

Here's my take on a Motorola V60g versus Nokia 8260.

What Mot did well
- great design
- superior voice quality
- somehow nicer looking display (very subjective)
- phone number entry - some hate it, but I like being able to enter a name once with all the appropriate numbers. I even like then seeing them as individual entries. I wouldn't want to pick Jane's entry, then drill down to her work number, then press send
icons for work, home, mobile etc
- external display to allow me to own a clamshell phone and take advantage of "open to answer"
- ability to re-order menus and assign soft keys and smart key
- ability to turn off backlight or change the time it remains on for
- when you plug in the charger, and you're on vibrate, it switches to loud ring so you won't miss any calls, on Nokia, it just shuts off the vibe function so you miss all your calls
- vibrate then ring feature allowing you the chance to discreetly answer a call while it vibrates, or allowing you to pick it up when it rings if you're not wearing the phone

What Nok did well
- specific missed calls list - not just received and dialed calls
if someone calls you more than once, it marks the times under one entry, rather than creating multiple entries
- caller groups
- simultaneous vibrate and ring
- alarm clock with snooze
- one-touch dial buttons (2-9) are not linked to those memory slots, so they can be easily changed any time and you don't have to take the one-touch dial into account when entering numbers into the phone

Please feel free to add to the list...

I am currently using the v60g but I did have the 8260.

My biggest complaint with the v60 is the battery life. I use my phone quite a bit and the v60 just cant seem to last long enough. I hate taking it out of the house because I know it'll most likely die throughout the day. My T68i has better battery life which I was surprised at first because of the colour screen.

v60g has great reception however Rogers AT&T's GSM network is still so new that its not the greatest, a lot of dead spots.

Good old Rogers TDMA had awesome coverage.

I had the 8260 for a while, I really liked it. Although dust used to constantly get up behind the screen, which was really annoying. Especially since the faceplate isn't "easy" to take off.

well considering the 8260 is 2 years old i dont think it would be a fair comparison!
